A Small Italian Restaurant..

What restaurant is it?

Mucca Osteria.  Revolves around wine and pastas.

Mucca Osteria has a variety of pastas made fresh in the house everyday.  Not only pastas, but also their breads are created in house.  One particular line cook does all of their dough for pastas.  First thing everyday, at 12 PM, he starts up the dough for each pastas and then wraps them and let them sit.

Not just pasta, but wine too?
Mucca Osteria has only wines from Italy and Italy itself.  From glass to bottle, each wine is specially picked by their Wine specialist, whom has visitors to taste their wines everyday.

What is its history?

Simone Savaiano first opened Mucca in 2011 with a huge opening hit of using local, organic ingredients to run his restaurant.  When opening, he opened to create a list of wines that would pair greatly with his style of food.  Of course, all the wine is from Italy.  Champagne and Sparkling wines will be mainly from France.

What makes their pasta so great?

First of all, it's all house- made. Second? They have a huge variety. Gnocchi, ravioli, tagiatelle, cavatelli, tortelli and papardelle. Each are the created with the same pasta, just a different technique to shape and form.  Gnocchi is rolled out for its shape.  Ravioli is stuffed, sometimes with brine ox tail stuffing.  Cavatelli is rolled, however, it is very time consuming because of its size.  Tortelli is also stuffed just like the ravioli, but with ricotta and mushroom stuffing.  And for papardelle (my favorite because of how delicious it is with the wide pasta noodle), it is just a thin sheet of pasta cut in a thick size, roughly about 2-3 inches wide.

How can we find them?

Mucca Osteria is located on Morrison and between 10th and 11th ave.  It is half a block from the transit and also in the center of Portland.
